Where to Visit in Thailand Based on Your Character

Bangkok is a shopper’s paradise, filled with night markets where you can practice your best haggling skills. Head on over to night markets like Rot Fai market in Srinakarin and Asiatique the Riverfront for the best deals. You can pick up items like clothing, and of course Bangkok street food.

 

Additionally, you can also head over to the Chatuchak Weekend market that takes place every Friday evening. This market has over 8000 stalls selling souvenirs, handicrafts, ceramics, clothing, fabrics and more.

If you’re a fan of shopping malls, Bangkok has some of the best in the country, offering international as well as local brands. Head on over to Siam Paragon, MBK Center, Icon Siam and Terminal 21 among others. 

 

For the History Buffs: Ayutthaya

Ayutthaya is actually a UNESCO world heritage site, and was the capital of Thailand from the 14th century  to the 18th century. Today, many ruins from that era dot the landscape of the town, most prominently at the Ayutthaya Historical Park.

This historical park is home to most of the ruins, as it was the center of the ancient capital. Entrance is free, but some of the temples require separate fees to enter and see the ruins closer. These fees range from 30-50 THB. Visitors can also rent bikes to cycle around the large sprawling grounds, which include temple ruins like Wat Chaiwatthanaram, Wat Phra Si Sanphet and Wat Mahathat.

Ayutthaya is also home to non-historical attractions like the Elephant Stay, where you can interact with the national animal of Thailand. 

 

For the Beach and Party Lovers: Phuket

Phuket island is the place to go if you love beaches. It’s known for its white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and marine related sporting activities.

 If you’re looking for a beach that’s lively and happening, head over to Patong beach, Phuket’s longest and most popular destination. In addition to just sun, sea and sand, Patong is also known for its nightlife. The stretch around Patong is filled with go-go bars, dance clubs, beer bars, live music, restaurants and more that open past midnight.

For quieter beaches on Phuket, you can head on over to Kata Beach and Karon Beach. 

 

For Food Lovers: Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai offers cuisine that’s different from the usual Thailand food that we know. Chiang Mai’s food has Lanna influences. The Lanna was an ancient civilization in northern Thailand, and some of the items you should try include Tam khanum (jackfruits salad), Larb kua ( spicy pan fried meat salad), Sai oua (Chiangmai herb sausages) and Khao soi ( curry noodles). 

 

Apart from delicious food, you can also visit Chiang Mai for its many ancient temples and natural attractions. These include the Chiang Dao cave and Doi Inthanon National Park.
