If you’re planning a trip to “The Happiest Place on Earth”, you’ve come to the right place! In this guide, we’ll cover everything from flights to hotels, to how to make the most of the attractions at ANY Disneyland park. Grab a magic wand, some pixie dust, and a pen because the real planning is about to begin!

1. Flight Destinations

First, you need to decide which Disneyland park you would like to head to! Whether you’re heading to the OG Disneyland in Anaheim, California OR somewhere nearer like Disneyland Shanghai - you’ll definitely need to book a flight to get there.

While booking flights, you might need to consider when you would like to go! Prices for both flight tickets and park tickets during peak seasons (summer holidays and Christmas) might cost more than off-peak seasons. If you’re planning on going during the off-peak season, make sure you’ll be able to take time off work to travel so it’s best to start planning at least half a year beforehand.

Tip: Use the Mayflower website to scour for cheap flight deals! If you’ll be going in a group of 8 people or more, fill in the group flight request form and the Mayflower team will contact you on the BEST group rates available in the market.

2. Accommodations

For the full magical Disney experience, staying at any one of the official Disney Resorts is always a good idea. It makes a world of difference travelling back and forth from the parks to your hotel - and by staying at the resort itself, you’ll be able to extend your time in the Magic Kingdom itself! Disney offers a variety of price points for their resorts ranging from Value to Deluxe, so you need not fear for your wallet!

And the best part about staying at a bonafide Disney Resort? Disney-themed rooms! Hang out with your favourite Disney characters adorned on the walls, and don’t forget to make full use of your Mickey Mouse-themed bathroom amenities. Spot the hidden Mickeys on your bathrobes, bathroom slippers, and on your mini bathroom soaps - a rewarding search indeed!

3. Itinerary

If you only have a limited amount of time (perhaps, a long weekend), you'll want to prioritise which attractions are important to you. Search for a map of the Disneyland park that you’ll be visiting and map out a route featuring the attractions you definitely do not want to miss out on!

A few more things you should consider while planning your route across Disneyland:

Specific shows
You wouldn’t want to miss out on the amazing shows and parades that Disneyland has to offer - highlights include the character parade (that usually happens around noon) and the fireworks show (at the end of the day)!

Character meet and greet sessions
Is your child a die-hard fan of Princess Elsa from Frozen? Make time for character meet and greet sessions happening around the vicinity of the park. To find out when and where the characters will be, download the official Disney Resorts app - there is one for every country’s specific Disneyland Resort!

Queue time for rides
You’ll need to account for the time it takes to queue for each ride while planning for an itinerary. Popular rides, such as the classic Space Mountain ride, may take up to 2 hours for queue time alone!

However, if you see a line at an attraction and prefer to come back at a designated time with a shorter wait, you can! Make a Disney Fastpass selection—available on the Disneyland Resort apps for no extra charge.

4. Tickets

Now that you have a rough idea on the attractions you’d want to visit, we highly recommend that you book your tickets beforehand online on the Disney parks official website! Every Disneyland park comes with their own ticket packages - you can opt for the standard 1-2 park tickets OR combos that come with meal options, princess photo shoot sessions, and even priority access for your favourite rides.

Disneyland might not be the ONLY attraction you want to visit on holiday! If you love the convenience of booking an all-in-one vacation that INCLUDES Disneyland, try out one of our packages:
