Kuala Kangsar is a well-preserved royal town comfortably cradled in the nook of the Perak river. This historical town is filled with well-preserved buildings passed down from kings of old. Take the kids for a trip to the Perak Royal Museum - also known as Istana Kenangan (or Palace of Memories) - for a history lesson on how the Malay Sultanate used to live. As an added bonus, swing by Pak Mazin’s workshop to witness the centuries-old tradition of Keris-crafting by a bona fide master. Great for kids who are budding history buffs and parents too!

Chase down more than butterflies at the Butterfly Garden - where a live insect gallery and a zoological garden await for an eye-opening and instructional yet fun experience! Known as Malaysia’s “Historic State”, Melaka has seen Portuguese, Dutch, and British rule over the years. Uncover Melaka’s colonial past as a major trading port with sites such as the A’ Famosa Fort, the ruins of St Paul’s Cathedral, the Cheng Ho Museum and even climb aboard a replica 17th-century Portuguese ship built to its original dimensions at the Flora de la Mar Maritime Museum!
