4 Relaxing Spas & Family Resorts For Your Next Bentong Getaway

31 May 2019

Kuala Lumpur’s jungle of buildings and intertwined highways of congested traffic sometimes makes us city-dwellers forget that the land we live in is in fact very green. Malaysia is nature’s sanctuary, offering a balanced and healthy lifestyle to those who reach out and pursue it. Just do a quick zoom out for a wider view of our country on Google maps and you’ll see that KL city itself is surrounded by natural green spaces, one of which is Bentong. Only a 30 - 45 minute drive from KL, Bentong is one of the best ecotourism destinations for families, offering refreshing activities of all kinds. Young children will love Bentong’s many animal farm experiences, and parents can enjoy the perks that come with staying at these four relaxing spas and resorts that we’ve listed from most affordable to splurge-worthy.

Hot Springs Bentong

Hot Springs Bentong is part of the eRYA by Suria chain of hotels and resorts. Living up to its name, this is the only one with a 40 ℃ pool where water is channelled from a natural hot spring nearby. The high sulphur content of a hot spring brings natural rejuvenation and healing for our skin, especially those who suffer from eczema and other skin irritations. Its temperature relieves muscle aches, making your body feel relaxed and refreshed after being immersed for no more than 30 minutes, which is the recommended duration. The hotel is designed to accommodate people of all ages, so pathways and rooms are wheelchair friendly and there is also a water feature and a playground for kids to play. Other activity choices include yoga, a hot spring geological trail, river tubing, archery and more. Prices range from RM190 on weekdays for a 2-person bedroom to just over RM400 on weekends for a family deluxe room with a pool view that fits four.

Set in the tranquil Japanese Village of Colmar Tropicale, Bukit Tinggi, The Tatami Spa is a paradise of wellness for your body and mind. It is Asia’s first Japanese concept spa outside of Japan, promising a unique spa experience that includes therapeutic hot baths in an onsen (a Japanese hot spring) and a range of body scrubs, facials, and aromatherapy massage. The Tatami Spa is just one of many attractions within the Japanese Village. Once you’re done with your spa, head to the Japanese Tea House to complete your relaxing experience by taking part in a traditional tea ceremony or bring your kids a-wandering around the Botanical Gardens in Bukit Tinggi’s cool weather. Prices at the spa start at RM280 for a basic combination of aromatherapy and foot massage which lasts for an hour and a half. Do note that advanced bookings are required. The Acres Resort

At first glance, the clear blue swimming pool with its scenic backdrop of natural green would seem to be the highlight at The Acres Resort. But after some exploring one would find that there’s more to this minimalist block of a resort than pictures show. The Acres Resort is designed to be just what every wholesome family getaway experience might need: A mini zoo where kids can interact with little creatures up close, a vegetable farm for a lesson or two about sustainable living, clean and well-designed family rooms with stunning views, kids rooms with wall-climbing handholds, and even a karaoke room for every family member to show their talents. There’s also a cafe on the premises where you can get your meals and some room packages come with complimentary lunch and dinner meals. Prices for this resort start at RM450 for a double bedroom and can go up to RM3000 for a chalet that fits 10 adults. A tad pricey, but worth the stay if you’d like to treat your family to an unforgettable eco-friendly holiday.

Step back in time and travel to 18th century France when you visit The Chateau Spa & Organic Wellness Resort. This is one of Malaysia’s most luxurious resorts with a fairytale setting and impeccable services to offer. Treat yourself to a stay in a room fit for royalty, adorned in velvet and satin furnishings, overlooking the lush greenery of Berjaya Hills. Spa treatments and wellness programmes can be customised to suit your needs, with the expertise of their in-house nutritionists, personal instructors, and physicians. Prices range between RM3,000 to RM5,000 and up as the spa prides itself in using only organic ingredients and being the first European spa concept in Asia. Just a 3-minute walk further up is the drawbridge entrance of Colmar Tropicale, a French-themed village resort that is open to the public for a small fee of RM8 for children and RM12 for adults. Here you’ll be able to entertain the whole family with retail shops, children’s playrooms, French and Italian eateries, live swans, and plenty of photo-taking opportunities. One of the best times to visit is during the Christmas season for that extra bit of Christmas magic.
